One of the top 10 contestants on Fox’s The X Factor faced elimination Thursday after a not so rockin’ rock week. Many of the top 10 sang mediocre rock ballads, not showing enough ability to perform a song in the genre.
As I predicted, Stacy Francis was in the bottom two, along with Astro, which was quite shocking. I thought that Lakoda Rayne would be in trouble this week given that the two other group acts have already been cut. But I’m glad the girl group will have another shot next week.
While Astro gave a great rap performance, his rendition of Diddy’s “I’ll be Missin’ You” didn’t really fit the rock category. With America voting him in the bottom two, it shows the desire to have a well-rounded contestant that can sing any type of song.

Before the results were read, the top 10 collaborated on Queen’s “We Will Rock You,” the type of song that I would have liked to see every contestant take on this week. Then it was time for someone to go home, but not before Rihanna gave a hot performance of her current hit “We Found Love.” Rihanna gave the contestants some advice: “You have to love what you do.” She rocks!

After being called into the bottom two, Stacy went with “Amazing Grace” and Astro chose the Jackson 5’s “I Never Can Say Goodbye” to fight for their spot in the top nine. While Stacy gave the worse of the two performances I found, Astro’s attitude was borderline insulting to the judges. Before singing for his safety, he felt like he didn’t even need to perform. Maybe it’s his young age, but Astro needs a reality check.
This is a singing competition, though, so the judges selected Stacy to go home. I agree with their decision, if we’re solely basing the choice on talent, but Astro is going to have to bring it next week if he wants to win America over. I felt bad for an emotional Stacy as she thanked the judges for her journey and chance to sing for Simon Cowell. I respect her positivity.
Find out if Astro can get his act together next week when The X Factor airs on Tuesday and Wednesday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
